SEO Tips for Your Property Websites
Below are recommended guidelines to increase the exposure of your listings in major search engines. Follow these steps and you'll increase the rank of your property websites in Google, Yahoo, and Bing!
Use Specific Key Words for your Domain Name and Title
Don't use "California Home for Sale" for the title of your home. That's like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. Even using a city name like Seattle, or San Diego is pushing it. Be specific. Use suburbs and neighborhoods, and combine them with something unique about the listing. For example; "Rancho Santa Fe View Home" and "West Bellevue Waterfront" have great chances to rank very high in Google.
Google your Title before you begin
Come up with a title for your listing and Google it. Analyze the search results and use your best judgment to see if your listing title is too common, too rare, or just right. Bad signs are:
- Your exact same phase is bolded over and over again in the title of each search result.
- Nothing comes up in the search results
Important! If you use a title like "California Home for Sale" you'll have a 0% chance of being found in search engines.
Match your Domain Name with your Title
Focus on one key phrase for your listing and get your domain name and marketing title to match as best as you can. If your domain name is entirely different than your marketing title it will confuse the search engines. Give Google one thing to focus on and you'll stand out.
Add Your marketing title in your property description
Google recommends that your key words are 2% of the content in your web page. This means that if you have 100 words in your property description make sure your website title shows up twice. Note: Do not overdo it as search engines will penalize you for it.
Take advantage of Unlimited Text
The more content you have the more attractive your site will be for search engines. The MLS restricts the amount of text you can have, property websites don't. Stand out among the search engines by writing as much as you can about the property. Get quotes from the seller, talk about the neighborhood, what's the best school? You can link to different resources and add new photos as well, all which help your SEO.
Describe Your Photos
Give your photos descriptions to further increase the content of your listings.
Use your Marketing Tools
Use the marketing tools provided with each one of your property websites. Not only will this drive traffic to your listing, but increase the inbound links. Sites that link to your listing show search engines how popular your site is, increasing your search rank. Post it on Craigslist, Activerain, facebook, twitter, email and more!
